Glaze

Hanne Bertelsen mixes all the different colours herself, which is also part of making each product special. Sometimes the glaze may be applied a little differently and new colours may also come into play.

When glazing she will often emphasize the contrast by using glossy, vibrant and tangible glazes. “I work with round shapes so in order to contrast that I will often finish up the surface with dyed-in clay mixed with cruder materials. It gives the pots a sandy and almost brick-wall-like surface. In the glazing process I try to add yet another contrast to the rough exterior of my products by using shiny crackling glazes.

Hanne Bertelsen graduated from Danmarks Designskole (Danish Design Academy) and she has her own workshop and shop in Copenhagen.
