Karina Skibby’s products are very basic presenting a particular style of simple lines, shapes and colours.



 

 

Raku

The flowerpots are made with the raku technique known for its fine black crackling surface.

On the subject of raku pottery Karina Skibby says: “What is so fascinating to me is the element of surprise. You can aim at a certain result, but there is no controlling it. It’s fun to be caught be surprise.
Raku is a Japanese method of burning, and the word “raku” means pleasure in Japanese.

 

Ceramist and manager of Damhuset

Karina Skibby was born in 1965 and graduated as a pottery maker in 1986. She has worked as a pottery maker until 1997 when she started out as an independent ceramist. She produces her ceramics in her workshop in Gadevang.

Since 2000 Karina Skibby has been managing “Damhuset” in Lyngby representing more than 100 Danish artisans.
